As-directed chauffeur service means you book a car and chauffeur by the hour, and the chauffeur goes wherever you direct during that time, waiting between stops. You do not need a fixed itinerary in advance. It is the opposite of point-to-point service, where you book a single trip from one address to another. In Boston, as-directed service suits meeting days, roadshows, events and visiting executives whose plans change during the day.

Quick answer
What it means
An hourly booking where the car and chauffeur stay with you and follow your directions, including changes made on the day.
How it is priced
By the hour, with a minimum. At Mak Louren: $100 per hour in a Business Sedan or $125 per hour in a Business SUV, 3-hour minimum.1
When to use it
When you have several stops, uncertain timings or need the car waiting outside. Choose point-to-point for a single trip, such as one airport transfer.

How an as-directed booking works

  1. Book the start time and estimated hours. Share the first pickup address, the passengers and any stops you already know.
  2. Choose the vehicle. A Business Sedan carries up to 3 passengers and a Business SUV up to 6. Larger groups can book the Business Van at $165 per hour (4-hour minimum).1
  3. Direct the chauffeur on the day. Add or change stops as plans change. The chauffeur waits nearby and returns when you are ready.
  4. Extend if needed. If the day runs long, let the chauffeur or dispatch know early so the booking can be extended.

When as-directed chauffeur service makes sense

  • Back-to-back meetings in the Financial District, Seaport, Kendall Square or Route 128, where parking and rideshare waits add up.
  • Roadshows and investor days with tight timings. See roadshow chauffeur service.
  • Visiting executives who need a car on call between the airport, hotel and office.
  • Events and evenings such as conferences, galas, games at TD Garden or Fenway Park, and dinners, when you want the car waiting afterward.
  • Property, school or campus visits with several stops across Greater Boston.

Tips for a smooth as-directed day

  • Share what you know in advance: addresses, meeting times and who is riding.
  • Allow travel time between stops, especially at rush hour and around the tunnels.
  • Keep the chauffeur’s number handy so you can call when a meeting ends early or late.
  • Book enough hours. Extending is usually possible, but planning the full day avoids surprises. See how much a chauffeur for a day costs.
